London – Thursday, 25 May 2017 – Carrenza, a Six Degrees Group company, has announced that a range of its cloud services are now available via the Digital Marketplace as part of the newly launched G-Cloud 9 Framework.
Figures from the Cabinet Office Complex Transactions Team (CTT) show that there are public sector IT contracts with a value of £3.8bn due to end over the course of this Parliament, with £1.5bn of these expiring over the next two years. To help public sector organisations adopt common technology solutions and to assist departments with legacy contracts, Carrenza is offering its managed services portfolio as a ‘Springboard to the Cloud’ to bridge the gap between current outsourcing arrangements and true public cloud service delivery.
“Some public sector organisations have over 500 applications that need to be re-architected before they can move to the cloud,” commented Matthew McGrory, Managing Director at Carrenza. “Our customers face the challenge of getting their legacy applications cloud-ready. Adopting an agile managed service approach will provide the ideal springboard to ensure this process can proceed effectively.”
The newly announced G-Cloud 9 Framework has simplified the procurement process, making it easier for the public sector to realise the benefits of the cloud. By driving innovation and competition in the market, it supports the move from historical vendor lock-in and long-term contracts. Offering a uniform way of accessing suppliers, it also enables easy consumption of services on demand.
The G-Cloud Digital Marketplace now features a range of Carrenza services, including those delivering back-up and disaster recovery, platform and infrastructure, storage, hosting and cloud migration.
